A sticky bra that is too small can leave the girlies feeling squished, unsupported and one deep breath away from a wardrobe wobble. Too large, and it can sit where it pleases rather than giving the cleavage, lift and rounded shape you actually wanted. Adhesive bra sizing is the bit that turns a good outfit idea into a proper bra-free moment.
The good news? You do not need to be a professional bra fitter or have a perfectly symmetrical pair of boobs to get it right. You just need a realistic starting size, a tape measure and an understanding of what adhesive lift inserts are designed to do differently from a conventional bra.
Adhesive Bra Sizing Starts With Your Usual Fit
Adhesive inserts do not work by wrapping around your ribcage with a tight band. They lift and shape by adhering to the skin above and around the breast, which is why the right cup and band combination still matters. The cup needs enough surface area to support your breast tissue, while the band measurement helps identify the insert shape and coverage most likely to sit in the correct position on your body.
Start with the size you currently wear in a well-fitting non-padded bra. If your 34DD bra gives you a smooth fit across the cups, no spillage at the top or sides, and a band that sits level around your back, that is a useful place to begin.
But let’s be honest: plenty of us have been wearing the same size since sixth form, hoping for the best. If your bras gape, dig in, creep up your back or make you spill out in places you did not invite them to, take fresh measurements before choosing adhesive inserts.
Measure your underbust first
Wear no bra, or a light non-padded one if that makes measuring easier. Wrap a soft tape measure directly under your bust, keeping it level and comfortably firm. This is your underbust measurement and gives you the band starting point.
Do not pull the tape so tightly that it pinches. Adhesive inserts do not rely on a compression band, but an accurate underbust measurement helps you select a fit designed for your frame rather than guessing based on whether you think your boobs look “big” or “small”.
Then measure the fullest part of your bust
Measure around the fullest part of your boobs, keeping the tape straight across your back. The difference between this number and your underbust measurement points towards your cup size.
If you already know your usual size and it feels reliable, you may not need to turn this into a maths lesson. Use the brand’s dedicated size guide to match your band and cup. The point is not to chase a label. The point is to choose enough coverage and lift for the boobs you have, not the boobs fashion brands assume you should have.
Why Cup Size Matters More Than You Think
A common sticky-bra myth is that smaller cups are just for smaller boobs and bigger cups are only about extra cleavage. In reality, cup size affects coverage, placement and the amount of breast tissue the adhesive insert can comfortably hold and lift.
For AA to B cup boobs, going too small may create a noticeable edge beneath fine fabric or leave you with less shaping than you hoped for. Choosing the correct cup gives you a fuller, more rounded look without making your chest look flattened or oddly perched.
For C to F cups, the right size helps create a centred, lifted shape without cutting into the sides. This is where a little patience with placement pays off. The insert needs to hold the breast from underneath and lift it upwards, not simply stick over the front and call it a day.
For G to O cups, coverage is not optional. Larger, heavier boobs need an adhesive insert made with enough surface area and support in mind. A tiny generic sticky bra may technically attach, but that does not mean it will provide the lift, confidence or discretion you deserve. Properly inclusive sizing means fuller-busted girlies get to wear backless, strapless and plunging outfits too.
Choosing Adhesive Bra Sizing for Uneven or Saggy Boobs
Real boobs are not factory matched. One may sit higher, be fuller at the bottom or be a different cup size altogether. That is normal, and it does not disqualify you from a gorgeous lifted look.
If one breast is noticeably larger, select your adhesive bra size based on the fuller breast. It is easier to adjust the placement on the smaller side than it is to make an undersized insert cover, hold and lift the larger side. Take a little extra time to position each insert separately rather than trying to place both at exactly the same angle.
For boobs that are naturally softer, lower-set or a bit saggy, do not judge the fit while standing still with your arms by your sides. Put on the top or dress you are wearing, move your shoulders, sit down, and check the neckline from a few angles. You are looking for a lifted shape that feels secure, not a painfully high position that makes the inserts more obvious.
A bigger lift is not always a better lift. For some outfits, a subtle rise and smoother side profile looks far more natural than pushing everything right up to your collarbones.
The Fit Test: Signs You Have Chosen Well
When your adhesive inserts are the right size and correctly positioned, your boobs should look lifted, held and naturally shaped in your outfit. You should not feel as though you need to keep checking them every ten minutes.
The edges should lie flat against clean, dry skin. The insert should support enough of the lower and outer breast to create lift, without leaving breast tissue dramatically spilling above, below or at the sides. Your cleavage should look like it belongs to you - because it does - just with a very clever helping hand.
There may be a little trial and error the first time, especially if you usually wear underwired bras. Adhesive lift inserts sit differently because there is no band, strap or wire dictating their position. Give yourself a practice run before a wedding, birthday night out or holiday dinner. Trying them for the first time five minutes before the taxi arrives is brave, but not necessary.
When to Size Up or Down
Size up if you are between cup sizes and want more coverage, if your boobs are fuller at the sides, or if the smaller option leaves a visible edge or does not give enough secure contact with the skin. Sizing up can also be the smarter choice for heavier breasts, where a larger supporting area can make the lift feel more comfortable and believable.
Size down only if the insert extends far beyond your breast tissue, bunches when you move, or appears under the neckline of your chosen outfit. Do not size down simply because you want dramatic cleavage. Placement creates most of that va-va-voom. An insert that is too small often creates more spillage, not more glamour.
Your outfit matters too. A deep plunge may suit a more centred placement, while a square-neck top can look brilliant with a slightly wider, softly lifted shape. The right adhesive bra size gives you options. How you position it helps tailor the result.
Get the Most From Your Adhesive Lift
For the strongest hold, apply adhesive inserts to skin that is freshly washed, completely dry and free from body lotion, oil, perfume or powder. Even your favourite shimmering moisturiser can interfere with adhesion, so save it for the rest of your body.
Warm the inserts in your hands briefly, then apply one side at a time. Start lower than you think, supporting the breast from beneath, and lift upwards as you smooth the insert onto the skin. Press firmly for several seconds around the edges. If the first placement is not quite right, remove and reposition carefully before fully committing.
Boobify’s Boob Job in a Box™ is made for the moments a conventional bra ruins the outfit: bare backs, tiny straps, plunging necklines and dresses that deserve a clean, lifted silhouette. With sizing available across an exceptionally wide range, the goal is not to make every pair of boobs fit one narrow beauty standard. It is to help your own look fabulous in the clothes you actually want to wear.
Your bra size is a fitting tool, not a verdict on your body. Measure honestly, choose coverage that supports your shape, practise your placement, and let the outfit have its moment - with your boobs looking exactly as lifted as you fancy.
